The TENZ Council recently convened for a productive face-to-face meeting, held on July 17th-18th, 2024. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Museum of Transport and Technology (MOTAT) for graciously hosting us, providing an inspiring environment to discuss and plan our initiatives.
Our meeting kicked off with a warm welcome and introductions, where members shared their roles, backgrounds, and exciting projects they have been involved in. This session fostered a sense of camaraderie and set a positive tone for our discussions. Throughout the meeting, we emphasised the importance of whakawhanaungatanga, with sessions dedicated to updating ongoing projects and exploring new initiatives.
A significant portion of our agenda was devoted to discussing major projects and interactive improvement to our systems (like all good technologists). There are a lot of awesome projects that have been achieved in the last 6 months, and many more projects ongoing in the next 6 months, one year, and beyond. All focused on supporting technology education and providing valuable resources for our members.
“There are so many things we are working on that it makes my head hurt.” – Claire Wigley
Discussions on upcoming events, webinars, and professional learning opportunities. Particularly with developments in Vocational Education, Achievement Standards, and the Curriculum Refresh. We explored ideas for general teacher online sessions and face-to-face meetings, ensuring a comprehensive approach to professional development.
We also delved into conference planning, with a 24-month plan in place to ensure successful future events. Our reflections and feedback sessions allowed us to identify key focus areas for the remainder of 2024 and start preparing for 2025.
Overall, the meeting was a resounding success, filled with productive discussions, strategic planning, and a shared commitment to advancing technology education. We are excited to implement the ideas and plans discussed, and we look forward to continuing our work to support and inspire our members.
Thank you again to MOTAT for hosting us and to all council members for their active participation. Stay tuned for more updates and exciting news from TENZ.
