Message from the organisers: "Due to circumstances beyond our control, Malcolm Dale has now been pulled across to Perth to remedy some building work on the playhouse there, and won't be back in time to deliver the workshop."

Peter Minturn Goldsmith

Tuesday 1 October, 1.30 - 4.30pm

  • 10 places
  • $50 per person

In this workshop the attendees will be making a silver band ring.

The skills this will teach are :

  • workshop safe practices
  • measure metal to fit the correct ring size
  • annealing (heating) the metal
  • forming (“turning a ring up” or bending)
  • using saw to generate a neat cut
  • soldering
  • pickling ring (removing unwanted marks with acidic dip)
  • filing and sanding any  imperfections
  • using a wire brush before finishing
  • finishing (polishing, using Tripoli and roge to polish the ring to a high standard)
  • use ultra-sound for final clean
  • stamp ring with hallmark

Attendees will need to bring closed toe shoes and have any long hair tied up.

Cooking Master Class & Eggplant Extravaganza

Join the Eggplant Express for a tour of the largest Eggplant growing operation in New Zealand. You will be amazed, impressed and inspired!

This will be followed by an Extraordinary Eggplant masterclass with Chef Asher Regan, The Heart Foundation’s Foodservice advisor.

Andrea Bidois and Pip Duncan will introduce the latest resources in the Food Curriculum project specifically for Year 7 and 8 teachers, but being used in all years.
