Rebuilding and developing Samoa’s hydropower fleet

In 2012 Cyclone Evan caused flooding across Apia resulting in damage to residential and commercial property, including Electric Power Corporations hydropower schemes of Fale Ole Fee, Alaoa and Samasoni reducing Samoa’s generation capacity by 25%.  Following receipt of grant and load money from the ADB, EU and NZ Governments these three schemes were refurbished as well as three new schemes constructed.  This presentation will talk through the schemes and the challenges faced through construction.
