NIWA Canterbury-Westland Schools Science and Technology Fair

Welcome to the NIWA Canterbury-Westland Schools Science and Technology Fair website. The Fair is proudly sponsored by NIWA, in association with the University of Canterbury, Ara Institute of Canterbury, the Canterbury Science Teachers’ Association, Kiwanis, the Science Award Trust, and Environment Canterbury.

Regularly attracting up to 400 entries from intermediate and secondary school students throughout the Canterbury and Westland regions, the Fair has been held in Christchurch for over 30 years. Throughout this time it has grown considerably in size and reputation to become one of the premier Science and Technology events in New Zealand.

The fair is organised by an independent committee consisting of:

• Members of Christchurch Kiwanis Clubs.
• Secondary school teachers, including members of the Canterbury Science Teachers’ Association
• Representatives from University of Canterbury,  Ara Institute of Canterbury,  Environment Canterbury, and other interested people.
