April 2023
Autism Acceptance Month is celebrated every April, and it is an event that has been advocated by autistic individuals, their supporters, and allies as a substitute for Autism Awareness. It’s important to note that not all autistics share this viewpoint, as some prefer to acknowledge Autism Acceptance in a different month, while others concentrate on Autistic Pride Day on June 18th, or opt out of engaging in any of these events.
The intention for this month is to use it as an opportunity to highlight positive and respectful autistic voices. The aim is to give autistic individuals control by allowing them to select the narrative they want to present to the world, and to emphasize inclusivity and establish a welcoming community where they are accepted and celebrated for who they are.
