The TENZ Council was fortunate to come together in person from 30 June to 2 July 2025 in Te Whanganui-a-Tara for our annual mid-year hui. This gathering brought a mix of fresh perspectives, future-focused planning, and shared commitment to our kaupapa as we continue to support and strengthen technology education across Aotearoa.
With representatives attending both in person and online, it was a great opportunity to reconnect as a team, reflect on progress, and align our mahi for the months ahead.
Conference Excitement: Site Visit & Sweet Samples
One of the highlights of this hui was our site visit to Wellington East Girls’ College, the stunning venue for our 2025 TENZ Conference. Walking through the spaces where we’ll soon host hundreds of passionate educators helped bring the planning to life. Whether we were checking accessibility for trade stalls or mapping workshop rooms, we could feel the excitement building for what will be a truly impactful national event next term.
We also had the pleasure of sampling chocolate making at the Wellington Chocolate Factory, an experience that doubles as a sneak preview of one of the hands-on workshops being offered at the upcoming conference. Let’s just say, “you’re in for a treat!”
Strengthening Relationships & Building Capacity
Our three-day meeting covered a range of strategic and operational areas, including projects and professional learning, membership, events, and marketing. The Council made strong progress across multiple workstreams and reaffirmed our collective vision for TENZ’s future.
We also welcomed updates from key initiatives such as NEX, Ako, and the upcoming TENZ Awards, and took time to connect with external partners helping us drive progress across the sector.
Looking Ahead
As we head into the second half of the year, the focus is firmly on the TENZ Conference 2025 and ensuring our support for ākonga and kaiako remains relevant, robust, and inspiring. Thank you to all Council members who joined us in person and online, and to our wider TENZ community for continuing to uplift the mahi of technology education.
Mark your calendars for the conference, 29 September to 1 October 2025, and stay tuned for registrations, workshops, and programme announcements.
