First 2023 Teacher Only Day Cheat Sheet

For support with the first 2023 Teacher Only Day (Monday 24 April - Friday 5 May 2023)

Over the past few years, Aotearoa New Zealand has undergone significant changes to its educational landscape through three major reforms: the Curriculum Refresh - Te Mātaiaho, NCEA Change Programme, and Reform of Vocational Education.

These reforms are significant and aim to address some of the challenges facing New Zealand's education system. The Curriculum Refresh aims to ensure that the curriculum is relevant, up-to-date, and reflects the values of New Zealand society, while the NCEA Change Programme aims to make the NCEA system more flexible and responsive to student needs. The Reform of Vocational Education aims to ensure that the vocational education and training system is better aligned with the needs of industry and provides learners with clear pathways to employment.

While these reforms are still in progress and their full impact is yet to be seen, they represent a significant shift in New Zealand's education system and have the potential to shape the future of education in the country.

Attached are two important documents:
1) Our TENZ First 2023 Teacher Only Day Cheat Sheet which provides links and some clarifications for all areas of change to allow anyone to have the conversation in their kura/school
2) The latest updates from the MoE for public from the PPTA Te Wehengarua Subject Association Forum.
